Event Description:
STORYTELLING

A single published story, anecdote, tale, myth, or legend must be retold without notes or props. A copy of the source should be present at the tournament for verification purposes.

The student may not tell a story used previously by him/her/them in any debate tournament.

The delivery should be spontaneous, not read. Memorization is not required.

No book or script may be used during the presentation.

The contestant may not add original material or change the story's original intent.

The maximum time is five (5) minutes, but the story may be more brief without penalty. There is a 30-second grace period. Students who exceed the time limit by more than thirty seconds should not be given first place in the round.

An introduction must be included within the five-minute time limit.
The 2024 Storytelling topic for the Warrior Invitational is NATIVE AMERICAN STORIES. All stories should celebrate and represent the culture of Native American tribes and communities.
