Dell H. Robison Middle School Invitational Tournament

Dear Middle School/Junior High School Speech & Debate Coaches:

The Dell H. Robison Middle School Speech & Debate Program and administration are excited to host a middle school/junior high Speech and Debate Tournament to be held Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Dell H. Robison Middle School.  This tournament will offer two speech event categories Platform events Original Oratory and Informative and Oral Interpretation Events DI, HIProse & Poetry, and Duo, Impromptu will also be offered; as well as two debate events - Student Congress and Public forum. In addition, we will be offering two levels of congress debate: congress for students who are new to debate and senate for students who have previously participated in congressional debate. Students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades are invited. We hope you can attend!

Each student may enter two speech events and one of the two debate events. Students are encouraged to enter in both speech events and debate events.  All of the following combinations for a student entry are possible:

  • entered in original oratory/informative only

  • entered in oral interpretation only

  • entered in impromptu only

  • entered in student congress only

  • entered in public forum only

  • entered in original oratory/informative and  either student congress or public forum

  • entered in oral interpretation and either student congress or public forum

  • entered in impromptu and either student congress or public forum

  • entered in 2 oral interpretation events

  • entered in 2 oral interpretation events and either student congress or public forum

  • entered in 1 oral interpretation event and original oratory/informative

  • entered in 1 oral interpretation event and original oratory/informative and either student congress or public forum

  • entered in impromptu and either 1 oral interpretation event or original oratory/informative

  • entered in impromptu and either 1 oral interpretation even or original oratory/informative and either student congress or public forum

Students should be dressed in business casual or business dress. Students should wear any of the following business/business casual outfits: a dress; a skirt and polo or blouse; slacks, and not jeans, with a polo or button down shirt (tie optional).  All clothing must conform to the CCSD dress code.

There will be an awards presentation at the close of the tournament.
