Dear Coaches and Teams,

You are cordially invited to the South Oldham High School Dragon Invitational! I welcome you to South’s Junior Speech Tournament as well as our third annual Senior Speech Tournament, and I hope that many of you will join us for an exciting event on November 9th, 2024.

CATEGORIES

The Dragon Invitational will host all 14 Senior and all 12 Junior Speech events as stated in the KHSSL handbook. Please visit the KHSSL handbook for more information.

ENTRIES

We will offer unlimited entries, but only the top three scores in each event will count for sweepstakes awards. Students may only enter in three events, and rounds will not be held for late performers. We strongly encourage students not to enter multiple limited prep events. Each entry will be charged $6. Duo events count as one entry but will be charged per person, each event being $12.

Entry Deadline is Tuesday, November 5th, 2024 at 11:55 PM.

You may drop for free until Tuesday, November 5th at 11:55 PM. After that time, drop fees will be $10. Adds will be added on a circumstantial basis after November 5th. Please let us know about any changes as soon as possible, before Saturday, if possible.

Judges

You must provide one judge for every 6 IE entries or a fraction thereof. For example, if you bring 7 people, you must bring two judges. If you cannot bring the required amount of judges, you may hire a judge for $30. Schools must provide one judge and can only hire two judges. Any judging drops will result in a $50 fine, per judge. Please inform your judges of the KHSSL guidelines, including time requirements and hand signals. There will be a hospitality room available for all judges, coaches, and drivers in room 201.

Awards

There will be awards for the top six performers in each category. Next out awards will be given to the 7th place performer in each category. There will be sweepstakes awards for the top performing schools.

Food

There will be lunch provided at $10 and an optional dessert for $2.

Directions

South Oldham High School is located at 5901 Veterans Memorial PKWY, Crestwood KY 40014. SOHS is easy to locate using GPS services.

From Louisville, take I71 North to exit 14.

From Bowling Green, take I65 North, then I71 North to exit 14.

From Cincinnati, take I71 South to exit 14.

From Lexington, take I64 West to the Gene Snyder Parkway, then take I71 North to exit 14.

Hotels

The closest area to Crestwood that will have safe, inexpensive hotels will be in East Louisville. I suggest this hotel, as it is close, safe, and inexpensive.
