Congressional Debate Async Challenge
Event Description:
Rules adapted from the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA) for Congressional Debate Authorship Challenge
Similar to the Congressional Debate Authorship Challenge held during the pandemic by the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA), Congressional Debate Async Challenge gives students who typically compete in live Congressional Debate sessions the opportunity to compete in an asynchronous format and receive judge feedback. Students write a 3-minute speech in affirmation or in negation of a piece of legislation from the tournament docket. Students read their speech and submit a video within a recording limit of 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Judges will evaluate the structure, arguments, evidence, and speaking abilities of each competitor and rank them against each other.
For this competition, students may choose one piece of legislation from either the NSDA March Legislation Docket or the NOF March Legislation Docket
