Dear Coaches, Judges, and Debaters,

Welcome! On behalf of Newton South High School, we are pleased to invite you to our fifth annual Spring Scrimmage. The Wasan Rafat Invitational Tournament™ is the pride and joy of the Massachusetts Speech and Debate League community, and is known as a highly prestigious post-season tournament reserved for only the most qualified debaters.

This year we have the pleasure of debating the NSDA April Public Forum topic,

Resolved: The United Nations should abolish permanent membership on its Security Council.

This tournament will run on May 11th, with the first round posted at 9:30, and finals and our own homemade award ceremony concluding by 5:00 PM.

While we cannot provide bids to the Tournament of Champions, you will find that your debating experience at the Wasan Rafat Invitational Tournament™ will be equally, if not more, rigorous than any other tournament hosted on the national circuit.

This tournament will be held in person at Newton South High School, and we are beyond excited to host you. May the odds be ever in your favor!
