Speech

All Speech competitors will receive 3 preliminary rounds. Two rounds will take place on Friday, with one preliminary round taking place on Saturday morning.

All preliminary rounds will feature one judge. All elimination rounds will feature 3 judges.

If a Speech event has fewer than eight entries, no elimination rounds will be held.

Six Entries or 25% of the field, in an event with more than eight entries, will break to elimination rounds, whichever is greater.

If advancing six competitors would create a need for a semi or quarter final in an event where 25% of the field is fewer than six competitors, therefore not normally requiring a semifinal, then 25% of the field will advance instead. (Example: In a field of 18, 5 competitors would advance as 25% of the field. If the 6th place competitor was tied on ranks with the 7th and 8th place competitors, thus creating the need for a semifinal round, where none was necessary with 5 competitors, a field of 5 shall be advanced instead of 6+2.)

If 25% of a field is eight or greater, it will break to a quarter or semi final, as necessary.
