Online Ballot Use Instructions for LIVE Tournaments.

NOTE: At state, each preliminary round will have 2 judges. Finals will have 3. Please make sure all judges are present before beginning the round.

BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT- The following actions will only have to be completed once.

1. In order to receive online ballots, first, create an account at tabroom.com.

2. When you create the account, please enter a cell phone number to receive the ballot and pairing notifications via text rather than email. (Live updates.)

3. After creating the account, log in. After logging in, look in the right-hand column under the bold header "Your Account." Select "Link your account to a judge." You should see your name on a row with your School. Link yourself to that account.

You are now set to receive online ballots and be notified via email or text. If anything goes wrong, email your team's coach and tell us what email account you used to create your tabroom.com account and they can add you manually.

THE DAY OF THE LIVE TOURNAMENT- The following will have to be completed before and after every round assigned.

1. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN WIFI ENABLED ELECTRONIC DEVICE

2. Sign into wifi as directed by the host school.

3. When you have a ballot, you can access it by logging in to tabroom.com with your account. If the ballot does not appear right in front of you, simply click your email address in the upper right corner OR select "Current Ballots & Panels" under the heading "Your judging" in the right-hand column.

4. When you find your ballot it is recommended that you press the start round button when you arrive at the room and the students are present.

5. Best Practices- Feedback

1. You may want to open a document to record your notes electronically to be pasted into the online ballot.

2. You can fill out feedback on the ballot as you go *Remember to click SAVE in Tabroom after each note.*

3. You may also fill out feedback after the round has been decided. Either way the students and coaches expect to see feedback and we encourage you to make it constructive and aimed at growth. Please refrain from commenting on things like student appearance.

6. Deciding the round and rendering a decision- When the round is concluded-

1. DEBATE- Assign a winner and award points- CONFIRM them. The ballot is not submitted until you click confirm and submit. The ballot can not be reversed if you confirm. IF you find you have clicked in error proceed directly to the tab room and speak to the tournament administrator.

2. IE (speaking-acting)- Assign rankings as you would on a paper ballot and click Confirm and submit. The ballot can not be reversed if you confirm. IF you find you have clicked in error proceed directly to the tab room and speak to the tournament administrator.

Why use online ballots? You will be notified as soon as any pairings or ballots are released. You also do not have to come to the ballot table ever again - everything is done electronically and you can proceed directly to the room.
