Event Description:
Rules: If a rule is broken, judge should lower performer’s one ranking and rating.
*Speaker will draw three topics and choose one topic to present.
*Speaker will have 30 minutes to prepare speech.
*Speaker must prepare speech in Extemp prep room.
*Speaker will be present and ready to deliver speech within 30 minute prep time.
*Topic slip must be given to judge prior to speech delivery.
*Speaker may NOT use any notes or note card during speech presentation.
*Movement is optional.
*Internet access is NOT allowed in speech prep. Students may use a computer with downloaded files, but may not use internet for research.
*The time limit is 7 minutes with a 30 second “grace period. Should a student go beyond the grace period, the student may not be ranked 1st. There is no time
minimum.
