2012 — WI/US

Divisions

Varsity Two Person Policy (VSS): The varsity two-person policy debate division will offer five preliminary rounds over Friday and Saturday. The division will break to quarterfinals or semifinals, which ever is appropriation for the division’s size. All rounds will be in the 8-3-5 format with 8 minutes of prep time.

Junior Varsity Two Person Policy (JVSS): The junior varsity two-person policy debate division will offer five preliminary rounds over Friday and Saturday. The division will break to quarterfinals or semifinals, which ever is appropriation for the division’s size. All rounds will be in the 8-3-5 format with 8 minutes of prep time. If insufficient entries exist to sustain this division, it will be collapsed with the Varsity Two-Person division. If that were to occur, we would try to hold a separate JV break out rounds for the best JV debaters in the VSS division.

Public Forum: We will host two public forum tournaments: one on Friday and one on Saturday. Each tournament will be conducted separately. You can choose to participate on Friday only, on Saturday only, or on both Friday and Saturday. This doubles your chance to earn a Wisconsin State Debate Tournament qualification. The format for the Friday tournament and the Saturday tournament will be the same, with one exception. On both days we planned to run five preliminary rounds of competition. On Saturday, we may hold a final round debate. Awards will be given to the best speakers on each day.

Additionally – there is an additional award for public forum teams who compete on Friday and Saturday. See the additional detail about the Public Forum Cardinal Cup (under information).

Lincoln-Douglas: Like Public Forum, we will host two Lincoln-Douglas tournaments: one on Friday and one on Saturday.
