Event Details

Debate

  • All debate events will be held live on NSDA Campus.
  • Congress, Policy, Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, Big Questions, and World Schools will be offered. No double entry is permitted.
  • Each debate event will have two divisions
    • Open division: any student in grades 6 - 12 may enter as they wish.
    • Rising Stars division: limited to middle school competitors and high school competitors in their first year of speech and debate competition. 
  • Congress will do one three-hour session, and all other events will do two preset preliminary rounds. 

Speech

  • Speech events will have one open division of each event.
  • All speech will be held asynchronously. Only recordings will be accepted. 
  • Dramatic Interp, Humorous Interp, Program Oral Interp, Original Oratory, Informative Speaking (visual aids optional), Prose (7 minute time limit), Poetry (7 minute time limit), Original Spoken Word Poetry, Pro Con Challenge, and Storytelling will be offered.
  • Unlimited double entry is permitted in live speech events.
  • Students will not attend rounds, but they will have the ability to view the other performances of students in their rounds through Tabroom.com.
  • Judges must judge their rounds in the given 1.5 hour windows found on the schedule.
