District 1 Speech

2023 — Rathdrum, ID/US

Judges

Thank you for judging for us at our District 1 Speech tournament! We are so grateful to have you, and we know you will enjoy listening to the events our students have worked hard to create. Here is a helpful checklist and guide to get you set up and prepared for our tournament!

  1. We need you to create a Tabroom account if you haven't already (if you're here, chances are you already have)! It's free and easy! Make sure to use an email and phone number that you can verify. Tabroom does not sell your information or send you junk mail/promotions/spam/etc. - just important ballot notifications the day of the tournament.
  2. Once you have created your account and activated your email, reach out to the coach of the school you are volunteering for so that they can link your account!
  3. Review the speech event rules. Our ballots will have the rules attached, as well as helpful timers, but you may be curious or interested to see the events. Our State Debate Commissioner Donnie Drobny at Borah High School, as well as some friends at Pocatello High School (Marcy Curr) made some great resources for us. You can check them out at this website. Don't be overwhelmed by clicking every link! Here are a few highlights:

Giving Helpful Feedback ** NOTE: Idaho no longer ties all entries after the 4th rank! We rank all entries in order (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th... etc.)

3. Optional but free! You can take the certification test for judging here. If you pass with 80% or above, you qualify to get paid at theState tournament at Lake City on April 14-15th!)

Thank you again for judging for us! Please let your coach/school know if you have any mobility/dietary needs so we can try our best to make this a welcoming and enjoyable experience for you!
