Special Distinctions at GSS

High School Open and Varsity events can qualify for the following special awards and distinctions at the Georgia Speech Series.

Individual Recognition --Students of Remarkable Achievement

The top three individual performers based on sweepstakes points will be named students of remarkable achievement.

School & Program Recognition -- Premier Performances

This recognition is given to the programs that collectively earn the top 50% of sweepstakes points at each Georgia Speech Series event. The number of schools in this group will vary depending on the total points awarded, but only those programs contributing to the top half of the total points distributed across the competition will earn a “Premier Performance”. These schools represent the highest level of performance and consistency throughout the series.

The following formulas will be used to calculate these distinctions.

Events with no finals:

1st Place - 8 points
2nd Place - 5 points
3rd Place - 3 points
4th Place - 3 points

*Only half of the field will be eligible to earn points

Events that break to finals:

1st Place - 15 points
2nd Place - 10 points
3rd Place - 8 points
4th-6th Place - 4 points
Other Finalists - 2 points

Events that break to semifinals:

1st Place - 20 points
2nd Place - 15 points
3rd Place - 12 points
4th Place - 10 points
Other Finalists - 8 points
Semifinalists - 4 points
