2024 Marlow Speech Tournament

CLASSES: This is a qualifying tournament which will run according to the rules set by the OSSAA. All fourteen events, in addition to the two new pilot events, will be offered in 3A, 4A, and Novice.

ENTRIES: There is a maximum of 5 entries per debate events. As long as you provide the appropriate number of judges, there are unlimited i.e. entries; otherwise, the maximum entries are 5 per event.

DEADLINE: Entries are due by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 18. Register on tabroom.com @ http://marlowinvitational.tabroom.com.

If you do not receive a confirmation by Monday, 7:00 p.m., please contact Paula.

COST: The cost is $4 for each individual event, $5 for each LD debate entry, $8 for duets, and $10 for each CX and/or PF debate team.

DROPS/ADDS: See the OSSAA rule book for drop fees. Any adds will have to be overwritten on tabroom.com by the tournament director and may only be approved until Tuesday, November 19, at 5:00 p.m. Add fees, drop fees, and missing judge fees will be imposed as of Tuesday, November 19 at 5:00 p.m.

PAYMENT: Make checks and purchase orders out to Marlow High School Drama Dept. An invoice will be emailed to you after the completion of the tournament. We will NOT use the tabroom.com invoice.

AWARDS: Medals will be presented to the top three places in individual events and in debate. Sweepstakes plaques will also be awarded to the top three teams in each class.

JUDGES: Confirm by Tuesday, November 19 by 5:00 p.m.

Requirements are as follows:

CX: 1 judge for 1-3 teams, 2 judges for 4-5 teams

LD: 1 judge for 1-4 debaters, 2 judges for 5 debaters

PF: 1 judge for 1-4 teams, 2 judges for 5 teams

IE: 1 judge for 1-12 entries, 2 judges for 12-24 entries, etc.

SCHEDULE: A specific schedule of events will be e-mailed to you the week of the tournament. Debate will begin on Friday at 3:30 p.m. Individual events are on Saturday, with extemp draw at 8:30 and individual events beginning at 9:00 a.m.

OTHER STUFF:

Make sure you are registered and listed as eligible with the OSSAA BEFORE you enter this contest and that all students entered are on your roster.

Friday, there will be a lounge for adults and debate competitors. Saturday, there will be a lounge for coaches, judges, and bus drivers; concession stand for students will be in the high school cafeteria.

Our new Performing Arts Center is still under construction, so that area will be off-limits. We will be using several buildings around our campus.

Our Awards Assembly will be in the new Marlow Safe Room.
