HS Tournaments - WS Prepared Motions for Spring 2025

The prepared motion for HS Tournament 4, February 8 will be:

As the United State government, this House would remove the ban on using affirmative action policies in higher education admissions. Students will debate both sides of this motion and will also have two impromptu rounds with abbreviated prep.

The prepared motions for HS Tournament 5, March 1, will be one of the TFA State motions and will be announced February 1 and include the affirmative action motion above.

The prepared motions for the HS City Championship on April 12 will include the affirmative action motion above and two of the TFA State motions and will be announced on February 1.

This House supports a "sugar tax" on sweetened beverages.

Info: A sugary drink tax, soda tax, or sweetened beverage tax (SBT) is a tax designed to reduce consumption of sweetened beverages by making them more expensive to purchase. Drinks covered under a soda tax often include carbonated soft drinks, sports drinks and energy drinks.
