Please describe your personal note-taking during the round
I write down the key arguments throughout the roundI always make sure to be honest and up front with students and pick out parts of their performances that didn't help with the overall coherence of the piece. When it comes to dramatic pieces I put a heavy emphasis on characterization as well as speaking quality, for example if a character feels flat or low energy and the interpretation of the character was not meant to be so, I will try to pick that out and give recommendations as to how they could fix that. I also focus on whether the words being said are clear and concise to follow, urging students to enunciate as well make sure that if they are going to do different voices and accents to not let that take away from what they are saying, I'd rather understand a piece than sit there guessing what is being said. For speeches such as INF I judge based off the overall preparedness of the student as well as the speaking tone and volume of the student. I make sure that if the organization, I give recommendations on how to better organize a speech so that if has a bit more flow. As for speaking, I try to look out for clear and confident tone, making sure to avoid awkward silence as well as not sounding unsure in there speaking. I also focus on volume so that the student is able to understand whether they were too quiet or so loud that it felt like I was being screamed at rather than being presented to.
