Hi, I'm Ying.
I'm a parent judge, however I do judge off of flow. I have extensive judging experience for congress at tourneys such as States, TOC, Stanford, Stephen Stewart, and others.
Congress:
-Talk slowly, and don't spread. You may speak quickly, as long as the words are clear and easy to be heard.
-No rehash, the later you speak in round, the more you should be adding on to the debate and refuting previous speakers.
-Respect the PO, you can correct simple recency issues, but don't try to overrule the PO or run the round. (If PO's do a decent job of running the round, they'll typically get top 4 in my ballot)
-Don't be overly aggressive in crossfire, it shouldn't be turning into a shouting match.
-Try to not break cycle, it gets pretty boring listening to 3 speeches on the same side in a row. If a speaker switches sides in a round, I'll typically rank them a bit higher.
- Make sure to try and have everyone speak in a round, don't try to play games preventing others from speaking.
-Be respectful during round and keep in mind other parts of practical debate.
Original Oratory:
-I'm not the most experience judge in speech, but I'll do my best.
-Make the speech interesting, have some tone in voice, don't just read off a screen in digital tourneys
-Add some humor as long as it isn't inappropriate.
Thank you, and good luck!
