I will judge based off my flow. I am pretty well-educated on this topic, so don't use any crazy. Try to speak slowly, if you can't, share your doc with me.

I'll try to give fair speaks - but if you can meow at any point during the round, you'll get a free speaker point!

I've judged public forum debates for a while now, so I'm familiar with common positions and arguments. Please speak at a moderate pace and slow down for taglines and author names.

I'm an open-minded judge. Sticking to the resolution is crucial, and creative thinking is valued. However, the ability to handle strong arguments and deep thinking is just as important.

Remember, let's keep the focus on the topic and have a constructive exchange of ideas. Good luck to both teams!

I am primarily a tech judge, so I will be judging off of the flow. I don't mind spreading, but if I can't understand an argument it will not be evaluated. Please speak clearly!! I also don't really pay attention to CX (I will be listening but not flowing, so if anything important is said bring it up in other speeches).

I don't care whether you stand/sit during a round, whatever makes you feel more comfortable.

I prefer substance debate over Ks and theory. If you chose to run a theory or a K that is your choice, but know that I am not entirely comfortable judging those. Please do not run disclosure theories.

Weighing is one of the first and most important things I evaluate in my flow. You must weigh at the end of your summary and final focus speeches otherwise my decision will slightly tip towards the other team. The earlier you start weighing the better.

When extending you must extend the full argument (warrant, link, impact) otherwise it doesn't count on the flow.

Sign post throughout the round!!!

Please start collapsing in first summary, it makes it so much easier for me to flow the rest of the round. It also makes your overall narrative clearer.

I do not anticipate asking for evidence after the round unless something is unclear. Also do not bring up any new evidence/arguments in FF speeches. They will not be flowed.

Do not be unnecessarily rude to your opponents or overly patronizing to seem nice. Speaks will be lowered.

I'm a parent judge so make sure to speak clearly and not rush your case. Your core arguments should be concise and supported with evidence instead of laying them out for me to make sense of. Do your best to analyze/explain evidence instead of throwing our cards. When titling, the titles should be clear and not unnecessarily complicated. Be respectful of your competitors throughout the round and good luck to everyone!

The heart of debate is communication, with ultimate goal of getting the points to the audience. As a lay judge, I'd like to hear you speaking in a normal speed using plain words, so that I can understand your points. Will disregard anything faster than a normal conversation.
