Event Description:
Students will participate in a 30 minute draw where they will have the opportunity to choose three topics at random on current events. After selecting one topic from the group of three, students will have thirty minutes to prepare a speech on a domestic or foreign issue. During preparation time, students may access the internet, but they cannot access prepared speeches or outlines. After 30 minutes the student will be released to give the speech in front of a judge. When presenting the speech, one 3x5 note card may be used.
Students will have 30 minutes to prepare and 7 minutes to perform (with a 30-second grace period).
