Spontaneous Argument (SPAR)

Event Description:

Spontaneous Argument is the debate version of Impromptu Speaking.

A pair of students will be given three topics, and together the students will strike topics until one remains. From there, the students will debate the topic. Students will be assigned as either PRO or CON based on speaking order PRIOR to choosing the topic. Up to six students will be assigned to a room per round, for a total of three debates within the round. Speaking order and times are as follows:

Prep Time - 2 minutes

PRO Construction - 2 minutes

CON Construction - 2 minutes

Direct Crossfire - 2 minutes (Two debaters ask questions to each other)

Indirect Crossfire - 2 minutes (All students in the round can ask questions to the debaters)

PRO Rebuttal - 2 minutes

CON Rebuttal - 2 minutes
