Event Description:
Orations are written by the speaker and must be persuasive in nature. Oratory is an event based on analysis, organization, and speaking ability. Persuasion encourages the listener to adapt or reinforce a particular point of view. Speakers should be given wide latitude in the ideas expressed. During the delivery of an oration, no manuscript may be held or referred to by the contestant. Memorization is mandatory. The mechanics of speech must be observed faithfully –poise, quality and use of voice, effectiveness and ease of gesture, emphasis, variety and enunciation.
Presentations should be appropriate for all audiences.
