Thanksgiving Turkey Talk Tournament
2024 — Fort Walton Beach, FL/US
Storytelling Varsity
Event Description:
Storytelling consists of sharing a story with an audience, performed as if the audience were a group of young children. The story must meet the theme of the tournament and not exceed five minutes. Delivery must be extempore, not read. No notes or manuscript is allowed. Students may use a full range of movement to express themselves and may incorporate a chair in a variety of different ways. Use of the chair is not considered a prop as long as: 1) Once the performance begins, all legs of the chair remain stationary on the ground and do not move from their original position, and 2) Competitors do not kneel or stand on the chair. Students may be seated but most commonly performers use a full range of stage space available to them. Gestures, pantomime and characterization may be used with restraint but the focus should be on the narrative.
