TAPPS State LD Debate and Persuasive Meet

2021 — Online, TX/US

Welcome to registration for the TAPPS State Academic Meet for LD Debate and Persuasive Extemporaneous Speaking!

In order to compete in this tournament, schools must be members of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools and students must be eligible to compete according to TAPPS bylaws and as entered in Rank One.  Further, students and judges should be entered on the spreadsheet that was sent to individual schools for all of the academic events in addition to this site.

LD and Persuasive will be live, online speaking events.  You will register, view pairings/sectioning, and receive updates, including ballots, on tabroom.com.  We will be using hopin.com for the online "rooms."  All students, coaches, and judges will need 1) a tabroom.com account, 2) a FREE hopin.com account (if you get to a page asking you to pay, you are in the wrong place), and 3) to register for the TAPPS event on hopin.com.  The hopin link will be available soon and posted here.

*Please take special care to ensure you are entering in the correct classification.  Each classification is a separate event.  If you are unsure of your school's classification, please check the title of the spreadsheet you were sent from TAPPS to enter your academic students for their contests.

LD DEBATE

Important Notes: all judges and competitors should check their pairings on Tabroom.com (and/or the notification they will have been sent via Tabroom.com) to learn which virtual room they should enter.  They will go to Hopin.com to find that virtual room, where competition will actually take place.  PLEASE CHECK IN AT YOUR VIRTUAL ROOM 15 MINS PRIOR TO EACH ROUND START TIME.  This is how we can stay on time - for us to know judges and competitors are all there!  Judges should click start once they are in the room, whether their competitors are there or not.  If the assigned judge and both competitors are present, you do not have to wait for the schedule's start time to begin - you may go ahead and start the round.

Monday, April 12 - LD Debate Schedule (tentative)

*We WILL condense the schedule the day of the meet, if possible, to start rounds early wherever we can.  Rounds are single-flighted.  Divisions with fewer than 8 competitors will go round robin (each competitor debates every other competitor in their division, including teammates; all place according to best overall record without doing elimination rounds).   ALL JUDGES ARE OBLIGATED TO JUDGE THE DURATION OF THE TOURNAMENT EVENT.
