Coast Forensics League - State Quals Speech

We will be offering the following events:

Please pay special attention to the changes for State Quals Speech that are different from how normal League Speech Tournaments are run:

• You must be a CHSSA AND a CFL Member to compete. 

• Each school is allotted 22 entries, with no more than 5 entries in each event. Wildcards (Top 7, 10, or 14 depending on the number of entries in each event at each League Tournament) do NOT count towards the 22 entry maximum.

• The judge requirement is 1 judge per 2 entries. You may also bring 1 CLEAN judge per 4 entries. Contact Karen and Xavier so we can track clean judges.

• This year, CHSSA is NOT allowing cross-entry between any Speech and Debate event, including Congress at the State Tournament. Students may also NOT attend State in two Speech events, so a choice must be made should they qualify in two or more events. We will use the “Single Entry Letter of Intent” to determine drops. 

• Single Entry Letter of Intent Form will be emailed out AFTER Debate State Quals and linked here. Follow the instructions on the Google Form.

• Extemp will have cross-examination during the Final Round. Instructions will be announced prior to the start of the Final Round.

• Duo teams will be allowed to compete in three different ways:

• Live and in the same-room

• Asynchronous same-room recording (must enter the NSDA Campus Room and drop the link into the chat)

• Asynchronous split-screen recording (must enter the NSDA Campus Room and drop the link into the chat)

• We have been allocated the following number of qualifiers for the League:

• 9 Qualifiers in NX and DUO

• 8 Qualifiers in IX, IMP, EXPOS, OPP, HI, and POI

• 7 Qualifiers in OA, OO, DI, and OI
