Grey Matter Invitational at Cary Academy

2021 — NSDA Campus, NC/US

AWARDS CEREMONY

LIVE DOC FOR STUDENTS AND JUDGES

The Cary Academy Speech and Debate team is proud to announce the second annual Grey Matter Invitational. Grey Matter refers to the part of the brain responsible for processing information and involved in sensory perception such as seeing, hearing, and speech; all of which are absolutely essential to participation in competitive speech and debate. We have selected this name for our tournament in honor of the memory of Grey Spector, a 2016 graduate of Cary Academy and former member of the Cary Academy speech and debate team. All proceeds from this tournament will go to support the Spector Family Fund which was established in memory of Grey and to honor the entire Spector family’s contributions to the Cary Academy community. (https://www.caryacademy.org/get-involved/support-ca/restricted-giving/spector-family-fund/)

We will offer competition in Varsity and Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate, Varsity and Novice Public Forum Debate, Congressional Debate, and nine speech events (Declamation, Dramatic Interpretation, Duo Interpretation Extemporaneous Speaking, Humorous Interpretation, Impromptu Speaking, Informative Speaking, Original Oratory, and Program of Oral Interpretation).

The tournament will be held virtually using NSDA Campus as our primary online platform.

All rounds of competition in Congressional Debate and Speech will take place on Saturday December 18th, as well as the preliminary and early elimination rounds of Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum. If entries warrant, we will hold the late elimination rounds of the LD and PF on Sunday December 19th.

All entries are due and fees and obligations will be frozen on Monday December 13th at 5 PM.

We look forward to hosting you in December and ask that if you have any questions you direct them to RJ Pellicciotta (Richard_pellicciotta@caryacademy.org)
