Wellington Debate Invitational

2021 — Wellington, KS/US

Novice division rules:

  • Novice will be limited to those students who have not participated in debate prior to this season.

  • We ask novice teams to limit their affirmatives to the Novice Case List (Westlands, Ag Runoff, Lead, and Fracking).

  • Teams may develop their own observations, alter the original plan text, and claim different advantages.

  • Both Affirmative and Negative are free to use cards not found in the packet and the negative can run positions not found there.

Entries will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis, with district schools given first consideration. All teams must register on Tabroom.com (http://wellingtondebate.tabroom.com). All entries will be waitlisted.  Entry fees will be $6.00 per team.

While we are not requiring schools to bring judges, we would appreciate any judges you might be able to provide. We may have to draw upon coaches to serve as judges if necessary. We will be using online ballots through tabroom.com.

We will provide a hospitality room. I will let  you know about concessions the week of the tournament, along with any changes to our covid protocols.

Awards will be given to 1st-8th place in each division.

Sincerely,

Kurt Sherry

  • We likely lack the facilities to assign each squad its own room, but we encourage appropriate social distancing.
