UIL Speech, Debate & Drama

Tournament and Debbie Hamman Memorial Invitational Meet.

  Hello UIL Academic Coaches,

You are cordially invited to the El Campo High School Speech & Drama Tournament on January 14th & 15th at El Campo High School. This year, we have decided to name our Academic Meet in honor of our former UIL Math coach, Mrs. Debbie Hamman who lost her battle to cancer in 2019.   

We will be offering a  variety of events in speech, debate, acting, and academics.   

Our entry deadline is Wednesday, January 5thth at 4 PM. Please report any drops as soon as possible. If you alert us to a drop by Wednesday, January 12th, no penalty will be enforced. Because space is sometimes limited, we will allow adds, but on a first come first serve basis. May the force be with you!

     Please remember, we do not follow the conflict pattern.  We run the Academic and Speech/ Debate contests as separate tournaments on the same campus.  Please have your student's pay close attention to entry times.  Speech and debate events will not wait for Academic contests past the allotted, scheduled time.  Cross entering is done at your own risk.

  We will have a concession stand run by the ECHS Band Booster club and a Marble Slab booth providing ice cream (cash only).  Debate prelims will be held on Friday and all other events, including debate eliminations will be held on Saturday.

We are running a smaller tournament and limiting entries.  We are hoping that our return to normal continues and plan on adding all of our other events next year.  This year, our Speech, Debate & Drama Tournament theme is Villians! What would Superman be without Lex Luthor, Batman without the Joker, Luke Skywalker without Darth Vader, the Avengers without Thanos, Aurora without Maleficent?
