The BASIS Academics team along with the speech and debate team cordially invites you and your
teams to our FIRST UIL practice tournament. We will be using TMSCA for math & science, A+
for computer science, ASW for spelling, & HEXCO for other subjects.

Notes: Computer science will be written only. Due to time constraints, only 4 Ready Writing entries per team.


The Lincoln Douglas topic will be the Fall 2022 UIL Topic Resolved: Amateur status ought to be
valued above commodification of Name Image Likeness.


The Policy /CX topic will be Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially
increase its security cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in one or more of
the following areas: artificial intelligence, biotechnology, cybersecurity.

Congress Legislation will use the UIL State Legislation. Please see page to the right for more details.

Fees:
Entry fees will be $8 per test. Fees may be paid up to the day of the competition. Late entries may be
added provided space allows, but drops will not be accepted after the entry deadline.


Awards:
Awards will be given to the top ten places in each category, with medals for the top six places.
Categories will be divided into 9/10th, 11/12th grade divisions for Math and Science and
Novice/Veteran for Number Sense and Calculator. (Novice: first year competing in contests). Awards
will also be awarded to the overall high scorers in biology, chemistry, and physics. Plaques will be
given to the 1st and 2nd place three-person teams in each subject. Sweepstakes trophies will be
awarded to the top three schools.


Hospitality and Concessions:
Hospitality for coaches, judges, and drivers will be provided in the downstairs teachers lounge. There
will be food from local restaurants provided. Concessions will be available for students in the
cafeteria area. There are additional seats upstairs in the secondary small cafeteria area.
