Springboard January Capstone

Event Details

Debate:

  • All debate will be held live on NSDA Campus.

  • Congress, Policy, Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, Big Questions, and World Schools will be offered. No double entry is permitted.

  • Each debate event will have two divisions: an open division that anyone can enter, and a rising stars division that is limited to any middle school competitor and any high school competitor in their first year of speech and debate competition.

  • All rounds will be preliminary rounds. The first two preliminary round will be preset; each round after that will be power-matched.

  • The top-placing students in each event will be determined based on win/loss record and speaker points.

Speech:

  • Live speech and asynchronous speech will be offered. 

  • Live events offered are Dramatic Interp, Humorous Interp, Impromptu, Program Oral Interp, Original Oratory, Informative Speaking, Mixed Extemp, and Live Duo (competitors must perform in the same physical room).

  • Asynchronous events offered are Declamation, Prose, Poetry, Pro Con Challenge, Original Spoken Word Poetry, and Storytelling.

  • Each speech event will have two divisions: an open division that anyone can enter, and a rising stars division that is limited to any middle school competitor and any high school competitor in their first year of speech and debate competition.

  • No double entry is permitted in live speech events.

  • Unlimited double entry is permitted in asynchronous speech events. Students may enter one live event and as many asynchronous events as they wish.

  • Live speech will be held on NSDA Campus.

  • Asynchronous speech judges will have from 8:00 a.m. CT to 4:30 p.m. CT to complete their judging assignments.

  • Divisions may be collapsed on January 19th if needed due to low entry numbers.
