NIETOC/TOC Information

Top finishers at Tournavelt in speech events will earn bids to the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC) and the University of Kentucky Tournament of Champions (TOC).

These events are eligible for bids: Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Program of Oral Interpretation, Original Oratory, Informative Speaking, United States Extemporaneous Speaking, International Extemporaneous Speaking

Roosevelt students may enter speech events in pursuit of bids.

For NIETOC, bids are earned at the following levels:

0-19 contestants = FIRST PLACE BID

20-34 contestants = FIRST, SECOND & THIRD PLACE BIDS

35-50 contestants = FINAL ROUND BIDS

For UK-TOC, bids are earned at the following levels:

8-15 contestants = FIRST PLACE BID

16-29 contestants = FIRST, SECOND, & THIRD PLACE BIDS

30-59 contestants = FINAL ROUNDS BIDS

Students require two bids to automatically qualify for these tournaments. There are additional at-large application procedures for students who only earn one bid. For more information, visit the NIETOC and UK-TOC websites.
