Novice Night Information

We will hold Katy ISD Novice Night 1 at the same time as prelims of Debate events on Friday night, September 20, 2024. Students will have 3 pre-set rounds (1 pre-set chamber of Congress) and will end on Friday night after watching Round 1 of Varsity events.

These events will be judged primarily by SLHS students, including rounds with SLHS competitors in them. It is intended to be a non-competitive scrimmage to get students participating in Speech and Debate with low effort and at a low cost (just $5 per entry). We will follow TFA rules for all events, when applicable. Some divisions may be combined (e.g., "Interp" instead of DI, HI etc., "Speech" instead of OO, INFO, etc.) if there are low numbers.

Students are welcome to compete both in our novice scrimmage and in main Speech events on Saturday, but may not cross enter between Novice Night and Debate on Friday night.
