22nd Annual Jimmy K. Poole Viking Classic

North Mecklenburg High School is pleased to once again host its one day tournament for southeastern U.S. schools, the Seventeenth Annual Jimmy K. Poole “Viking Classic” on Saturday, October 5, 2024.

As is our tradition, the tournament will be regular open competition but is also "novice friendly". Besides the usual novice PFD, LD & Congress, we have additional novice categories in some speech events. We will offer novice speech events but reserve the right to collapse a novice division into the open category if there are insufficient entries. If that happens, a 'best novice' award will be given. As a reminder, Declamation is for freshmen and sophomores only.
