Salado High School Presents NIETOC and UIL Invitational In-Person @ Salado High School December 14th, 2024

Welcome to the Salado NIETOC and UIL Invitational Meet hosted at Salado High School. We will offer all traditional UIL speaking events (CX debate, LD debate, Persuasive Extemp, Informative Extemp, Prose and Poetry. These tournaments are intended for schools or teams that prefer "UIL style" forensics. We will be offering 3 rounds of IEs and 4 rounds of Debate. We will offer novice and varsity divisions if numbers justify separate divisions. NOTE: We are willing to provide novice material if you choose to use it. However it is not a requirement to use the novice material in novice rounds.

(Files will be uploaded by September 14th) NOTE: Students are typically unable to access the files with a school email.

We are also a NIETOC qualifier. Students can qualify in any of the NIETOC events. We limit students from competing in more than 3 events per section.

We will be using tabroom for registration, balloting and communication. It is imperative you check your emails for tabroom updates, that is how we will send out information regarding the tournament leading up and the day of.

Entry Fees

IE Events $20 per competitor

Duo/Duet $30 per entry

LD $30 per competitor

CX $40 per team

Students may cross-enter in events. Debaters are only allowed to do Extemp.

Judge Fees

1 judge for every 2 entries or less for CX or a missing judge fee of $125

1 judge for every 4 entries or less for LD or a missing judge fee of $125

1 judge for every 6 entries or less for IE/Congress or a missing judge fee of $125

ALL SCHOOLS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY THEIR OUTSTANDING BALANCES ON AND/OR BEFORE THE FRIDAY OF THE TOURNAMENT. FAILURE TO PAY YOUR FEES WILL RESULT IN YOUR STUDENTS BEING REMOVED FROM THE TOURNAMENT. If you have to request an exception please email Julian Erdmann at Julian.T.Erdmann@gmail.com

If we haven't received payment within 30 days after the completion of the tournament we reserve the right to charge a $100 late fee. For every additional 7 days after 30 days that the balance remains unpaid we will be charging $50.

TOPICS

CX Debate: Policy debate will use the 2024 - 2025 topic.

Resolved: The United States federal government should significantly strengthen its protection of domestic intellectual property rights in copyrights, patents, and/or trademarks.

LD Debate: LD Debate will use the UIL Fall 2024 topic. Resolved: In the United States, agroecology ought to be prioritized over industrial agriculture.

  1. Please fill out your invoice amount that you will be paying for the respective tournament.

  1. Once added to the cart, you may check out by clicking the cart button towards the right of the store page.

  1. Select to make an account or checkout as guest

  1. Fill out billing info and payment info and select verify order details

  1. Once at the checkout screen locate the box that says additional information.

  1. Include the following: Tournament Name, Tournament Date, School Name (This will help to make our bookkeeping easier)

NOTE: Due to outstanding balances over the last two years that have been unpaid. We reserve the right to refuse participation to any school that hasn’t paid leading up to the tournament.
