The Ysleta HS Speech and Debate program would like to welcome you to the 2024
Ysleta Tournament. The tournament will be IN-PERSON at Ysleta High
School on September 13-14, 2024. We will be offering the complete
set of events in IE’s and LD, PF, and Congressional debate. If any events fail to meet
qualifying numbers, then the event will be dropped.

LD Topic: Resolved: The United States ought to require that workers receive a living wage.

PF Topic: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially expand its surveillance infrastructure along its southern border.

Congressional Debate will be debating the following pieces of legislation from the TFA Fall 2024 Docket.

Prelims: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 (in that order)

Finals: 8-12 (students may arrange the order using appropriate parliamentary procedure)

Please refer to the schedule for event times and cross entry rules. All cross-entries are
at the student’s own risk. If a student does not make their round on-time they may be
dropped, regardless of the reason. Out-rounds will be paneled only if we have enough
judges available. We will break brackets in debate out-rounds.
We will do our best to accelerate the schedule if/when possible, so please pay close
attention to the postings and updates.

Ysleta students will be competing at their own tournament.

Student Congress will take place in the Early College Building. It is the smaller building to the right of the main building when you enter the gate on Davis St. Everything else will take place in the main building.

We may run quarters at 7:30pm if we are running on-time, ALL competitors want to stay and debate, and we have enough judges, otherwise they will be on Saturday.
