Brenda Boudreau Novice Debate Invitational

2024 — Wichita, KS/US

September 12, 2024

Dear Coach,

We are pleased to invite your team to the Brenda Boudreau Novice Debate Invitational, taking place in person at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School on October 8, 2024. This tournament is exclusively for novice debaters.

Our debate tournament honors the legacy of BCCHS's long time Debate and Forensics coach, Brenda Boudreau "Boo," who was a teacher at BCCHS from 1980-2017. Boo was an English, Speech, Drama, and Debate teacher for a total of 50 years. She began her teaching career in Wilmot, AK, then Moundridge, KS before teaching at Bishop Carroll. She earned her teaching degree from the University of Arkansas-Monticello and a Master’s degree from the University of Arkansas. Boo affected the lives of many students whom she taught and coached and is remembered for her huge personality and even bigger heart.

This tournament will be held after school. It is intended for Novice (freshman) debaters who are new to the activity. There will be two rounds, with the top 8 teams with the best records receiving recognition in the Novice Division. Sweepstakes awards for the top three schools will be given.

Students are required to utilize the NDCA Novice Caselist. Each school is required to bring at least one judge for every three entries and is encouraged to bring additional judges. Third and Fourth year debaters may judge for this tournament. The tournament will utilize Tabroom.com, and all ballots will be completed online.

Entry fees will be $4 per entry. We will not be providing a dinner break since this is only a 2 round tournament.

Sincerely,

Ashley Arnold
