Sparks 4 Speech 2025

2025 — Online, CA/US

The Eaton and Palisades fires have left many student communities in Los Angeles County facing significant challenges. In response, California's student speech and debate community is hosting this tournament to raise funds and awareness. Our goal is to support these communities as they rebuild and recover with the help of nationally-ranked judges, student tab staff, and student competitors like YOU!

This tournament is available to anyone regardless of age and location who wishes to compete in Congress, Extemp, and Impromptu.

The schedules of the scrimmage (more details on the right hand side of this page):

CONGRESS: Please join the provided Zoom link at 8:00 AM PST, round will start at 8:30 AM PST.

EXTEMP: A 30-minute preparation period shall be at 8:00 AM PST, first speaker draw time will be at 8:30 AM PST.

• IMPROMPTU: Please join the provided Zoom link at 8:45 AM PST, first speaker draw time will be at 9:00 AM PST.

Congress will have three to four pieces of legislation that will be available on the right-hand side of this tournament by April 5th.

Elimination-round legislation will be directly related to the California wildfires. Preliminary legislation will be bills from TOC 2025.

No judge requirement when signing up, we offer judges who have lots of experience at the national level.

Zoom links will come out 60 minutes before the round in your email.

The objective of Equality in Forensics is to provide free, online debate opportunities to make speech and debate more accessible to high school students across America.Read more about our mission here.

We will follow the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA) standard procedure and rules. Rounds will be held in Zoom rooms.
