I did debate for 2 years before graduating I have experience in PF, Policy, LD, and multiple speech events. My favorite event is HI. I also placed 5th in state in for HI.

I will not tolerate anyone being homophobic, transphobic, racist, or any other form of discrimination!

Speak slowly, enunciate clearly, and don't spam arguments. Give me 3(+/-) points, well-supported, and logically structured. I am not impressed by speed, volume, jargon, or emotional appeal.

Speakers who flip midround will get more slack for presentation

I like a funny intro, even if it doesn't really connect if you can find a way to sort of connect it and you aren't really pushing it all that much you'll get bonus points for me.

Content

Each speech will be considered on the merits it has based on when the speech is given

Edit: yall never have spons/1st negs prepped and it takes a while to start the debate, early round speeches are ranked with more slack

All speeches have a chance to be ranked, just if you are going later ref more, and if you are earlier build a better foundation

Make sure that your points are understandable, the nitty details or structure doesn't really matter, just make it understandable

Though comedy can be a good tool, try to keep to a level of professionality

I'm expecting to hear another speakers name if you aren't the Spon/Author

Unlike for presentation, I will not really give much slack in terms of content for people who flip

A nigh near exact copy of a previous point is worse than a worse but unique point

POs

POs start at 2nd place at my ballot, they lose .3 ranks (multiplied by every person who runs for PO) every mistake they make, meaning that after 3 mistakes you will be dropped to 3rd, assuming there is no one else running for PO, but if 3 people run for PO, one mistake drops you to 3rd.

If you run a perfect chamber and I think that there is no amazing speaker I'll give you the 1.

Amazing speakers can displace the PO, but if you run a perfect chamber I will not rank you under 3rd no matter the speakers.

General

Feel free to present amendments, I evaluate it if the amendment is germane, if it is deemed dilatory it can't get more than 4 points for me (out of 6). If it deemed germane I will work with it on its merits (I do like amendment speeches so its merits will be higher), and if it is successfully seconded I will auto give it at least 5 points (out of 6).

Insulting your other competitors will get you dropped, no exceptions (Saying that they are bought out by "big pharma" and screaming at them that they are "failing their people" and are a "puppet" during cross will end with me reporting you and attempting to get you DQ'd, this happened during one of my rounds).

Do not overtalk the PO, if there is a problem they are causing POINT OF ORDER

Though it isn't a rule to move to previous question after 3 speeches on one side (in non-toc tourneys), please switch if you can, the arguments just get stale and it becomes a lot of rehash, if you can still make a unique argument then its fine, but don't just rehash. If you break cycle and give rehash, I'm dropping you, and i will die inside.

The grace period is there for a reason, try to keep within it as much as possible. Like if you are obviously the best speaker in the round, its not like you are gonna be bared from getting 1st, but if there is another really good speaker, or the PO runs the chamber perfectly and really quick, you going over time will probably push the other person above you.

60/40 Presentation to Content

Content doesn't matter if you can't properly display it, this is congress if you can't properly explain your thoughts you are failing your constituents

PF/LD

I try to flow, but like lets be fr, I'm a congress nerd, I'm not the best at PF/LD flow. It's best to consider me a flay judge more leaning towards lay.

Please present sort of well, like you can go fast thats fine, but like don't talk quietly, or extremely monotone. I get that presentation doesn't really matter in PF/LD compared to cong, so I'm not gonna make you give me a killer congress intro, but like if I have to lean in to hear you, or you sound like my grandpa, its gonna be hard for me to follow along. I am so very sorry if I am judging your round and you have a killer speech for an experienced tech judge that is a goat at flowing when you are spreading. I am not that judge.

Speech

I'm lay, my entire experience is doing extemp once. I do watch OOs and humor interp online in my free time but I don't understand the structure behind it. Treat me a green as someone can be as a speech judge

Ultimately I expect you to communicate persuasively and move the arguments forward. In policy I expect you to move the argument, explain the flow, and advocate for voters. I will vote on stock issues, topicality, solvency, counterplans, etc. based on where you push the argument and where your opponents push back. You can spread but realize I will likely ask for you to provide me the key cards so that I can read them in context--ensure you are properly using the text.

In LD realize that value and criterion will be key from which I will evaluate your persuasiveness of how you lay out the case. Do not ignore what your opponent says, rather address their arguments to refute them.
