I'm not sure how many people in total read the paradigms of their judges, I'd estimate that it's around 10% of competitors who consistently read the paradigms of those who are judging them, especially in short rounds in which judges aren't revealed until a few minutes before they need to go up to speak.
So for the good of the people and feeling accomplished as a productive member of debate society, I will write below what I like to see.
ACTUAL START OF THE PARADIGM
I like to see in rounds mostly confidence and general attitude.
I have noticed that those who are confident in their speaking look like they're passionate about what they're talking about (whether being angry, laughing, smiling, etc.). Monotone doesn't make a speech bad, of course. I will score on content, but I am more inclined to score those who made me smile and caught my attention higher.
In terms of research and evidence, I'm not too picky as long as it makes sense. I don't need to hear sources and everything. Remember to not just do evidence but also explain why it applies to your argument. It's like writing an essay, evidence first, then you analyze the evidence and explain why it supports your thesis.
That's generally what I like to see; passion and a bit of attention grabbing. Sorry I don't have a bunch of advice, I'll update as more comes.
