hi y’all!! i’m currently a sophomore and a varsity debater at Johnston

i am probably best described as a “flay” judge. please please please have a strong link chain and impacts that are logical!! that being said i will still vote on extinction and other more out there impacts as long as they are debated well. if the link is weak call it out please don’t rely on me to make that assertion cause i probably won’t. i’m fine with speed, if your going too fast i’ll say “clear” and set down my pen. guys i’m begging you please signpost!! if you don’t signpost i won’t know where to put it on my flow meaning most likely it will not end up on my flow, if it’s not on my flow i won’t evaluate it so it is in your best interest to signpost. EXTEND all parts of your argument in 2nd rebuttal all the way through ff (especially impacts) and you’ll be good in my books. please weigh and please make it comparative!! also please make sure all arguments past constructive are responsive to the other teams. speaks will be from 26-30 usually unless you are downright rude. please regard everyone in the room with respect including me, your opponents, and your partner!! lastly HAVE FUN this activity is so rewarding if you have fun with it! if you have any questions or need ANYTHING at all please don’t be afraid to come talk to me i will help you with literally anything! good luck!
