HI! im Aly :), I have been in extemporaneous speaking and world schools debate at Cypress Creek High School for almost two years now.
-Keep the rounds respectful (never laugh at the opposing side).
-Please be passionate on what you're arguing for.
-Please speak clearly and at a normal speed.
If it is DEBATE I don’t want to hear the same thing over and over I want to see more cross.

truth>tech
YOU must be respectful of others in your room, don't be nervous, stand confidently and give your speech to the best of your ability; it can get nerve-racking at the front of the room. Just know I'm judging you for all the good things you do, not the wrong things
1. Slow down. I can keep up on the flow if you go fast, but remember, persuasion is more important than speed. If you get fewer words in, but the words are impactful, that will be much more strategic.
2. I am open to pretty much any type of argument, obviously, as long as it is not discriminatory or hateful. As long as you can sell it, I will vote on it, regardless of my personal opinions on the motion.
3. Be charitable. A round where both sides are extreme in their characterizations and uncharitable is not fun to watch and is extremely difficult to evaluate.
4. Write my ballot for me. Tell me what the key voters are in the round and what I should be basing my decision on. If you leave the decision up to me, there is a higher chance that my decision doesn't go your way. When you write my ballot for me, I know what to prioritize, and it helps me evaluate the round.
Speaker Points-I will give points if you follow the other aspects mentioned. I don't want a rude or condescending tone. MAKE SURE TO BE RESPECTFUL to everyone in the round, whether that's a spectator or your opponent. DO NOT say anything racist, sexist, ableist, or homophobic. I WILL down speaker points and give you the worst possible speaker points I can give. Debate well and be confident. Explain everything in your argument, and you will get better points.

I am a PF and policy debater so I'm pretty familiar with debate terminology
Preferences during debates:
-Please speak clearly and at a reasonable speed (I can keep up with spreading as long as you're speaking clearly)
-Please signpost your arguments and please give me an off-the-clock roadmap before your speeches
-During cross, if an opponent asks you a question a couple seconds before cross is over, please answer the question unless you don't have an answer.
-Please let your opponents have a chance to ask questions during cross.
I understand cross can get heated but please remain respectful to everyone.
-I won't take any arguments in cross into voting unless you bring it up in your speeches.
-I mainly vote off of weighing and when you weigh, please compare your impacts with your opponents and why you outweigh.
-If your opponent asks you for a card you must provide it or I will have to stop the round.
-If you make a non-analytical argument and you do not have a card backing up the argument, I will not vote off of that argument.
-When asked a question during cross, don't drag an answer for more than 20 seconds unless it's necessary.
Speaks:
I will start with 28 speaks and either cut down or give you more points
Please be respectful to everybody in round

LD
- If you talk fast I want you to talk clearly or else I will verbally tell you to slow down
- I do judge you based off what you've did in round overall not on just one thing.
- DO NOT SAY SORRY even if you mess up don't say sorry
- Don't say uh or like

During rounds, please be mindful on your tone and volume of you voice, while it's okay to be loud, do not get too aggressive.
For anything debate:
- I am OKAY with spreading, but don't let it mess up your articulation. I can understand spreading to a certain extent, but I still need to hear you speak clearly.
- I vote based off of weighing, while I will weigh both sides myself, you can further enforce your arguments which helps me out.
- Speak loudly! If you're muttering I will miss certain points and it might affect the way I vote.
- During Cross examination, If time ends and your opponent asks a question, don't answer, time is over.
- When Asked a question, don't drag on your answer, make it clear and concise.
- Don't use terms you aren't fully familiar or have basic understanding of.
- I CANNOT use questions when weighing your arguments if YOU don't bring them up during speeches.
- When you're speaking, look at your judge, in this case me, not your opponent.
- I prefer eye contact, I want to know that YOU know YOUR case.
- I'm okay with either traditional or progressive, I don't exactly have a preference for either, do what works best for you.
For Anything Speech:
- Speak loudly and confidently, I need you to sound confident in what you're saying.
- Eye contact and judge interaction, you're persuading me!
- Match your tone with your words and what you want them to say, don't be monotone!
- Try not to fidget that much, it can be a little distracting.
- Assume I don't know what you're talking about, act like this is my first time hearing any information about your topic.
If you have any further questions, feel free to ask before the round starts.

You don't care about my history if you do ask me
I will judge only based on what i am told, if you say terrorism is good and have proof I have no reason to not believe it
I will not automatically give you points if your opponent drops points, make sure I know that a point was dropped
Don't be abusive
No spreading
No tricks
Have fun
If you are running anything crazy you can send me the case Calebquinn84@gmail.com

Hi! I’m currently an LD debater at Cypress Springs, I also do Domestic Extemp and Informative!
Spread is okay, but rhetoric and clarity should still be a priority.
Truth > Tech, BUT still flow!
Be respectful to your opponent
