We hope to see you at the annual Lansing High School Forensics Invitational on Friday and Saturday, January 24th-January 25th, 2019. We will be hosting the following events

**Double star events are NIETOC bid qualifying events.
*We will combine INFO7/INOF10 if numbers are low.
*We will use the Jan./Feb. LD topic and the Jan. PFD topic.
*We will also be hosting the EKNSDA Novice Congress Experience Friday. Details for these events will be coming to EK schools soon. We will run ours separately but concurrently.
The schedule will be as follows:

Session 2: 6:00-7:45
SATURDAY
EXT Draw: 7:30
Round 1: 8:00 -9:30
Round 2: 9:30 -11:00
Round 3: 11:00 -12:30

*Our awards assembly will begin A.S.A.P. both days
**Events will break to quarters/sems/finals based on prelim contestant numbers according to the nietoc bid pattern.
Entries will be $5 each and PFD, DUO, and Duet Acting will be $10 (or whatever you charge us at your invitational).
We will have concessions for dinner Friday and lunch Saturday. PLEASE order ahead of time on tabroom.
We suggest you dine at our concessions as they benefit our squad.
We have also had difficulty getting people back on time after lunch on Saturday in the past and appreciate your support in keeping the tournament moving on time.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

Each school will get 18 total entries. Extras will be given to those who do the same favor for us.

Students may enter in as many events as you are comfortable giving them. HOWEVER, No student may enter the same event twice, or double enter in two draw events, ROUNDS WILL NOT BE DELAYED OR EXTENDED FOR LATE COMPETITORS, multi-enter at your own risk. NO STUDENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE AFTER CONCLUSION OF THE ROUND.

Prose and Poetry must be read. With the exception of a small step for transitions, the performer’s feet shall not move.

Duet Acting will be provided with two chairs and a table or desk. No props are allowed.

In extemp prep, we will be following current KSHSAA guidelines regarding the use of Electronic Retrieval Devices. Questions will come from digital and print sources.

Coaches will be on standby to judge.

Medals will be given to the top 6 finalists in each event.

Sweepstakes will be determined by your top 18 cumulative entries. (we figure your top 18 at the end of the tournament). Trophies or plaques will be awarded to the top three sweepstakes schools overall.

Management reserves the right to handle situations as they may arise to best facilitate student learning.

Competitors who perform in the wrong room will be given the last rank in the room they were assigned to.

OUT OF STATE TEAMS: All competing teams must meet the following criteria to compete at a KSHSAA tournament:

School must be within 500 road miles of the nearest border town in Kansas
-
School must be a member of their respective state activities association.

Students must be representing an actual school. No independent teams will be allowed to compete.
- INITIAL OUT OF STATE TEAM REGISTRATION MUST BE RECEIVED AT LEAST 30 DAYS PRIOR TO TOURNAMENT

Nietoc Bid:
During with the 2019-2020 competitive season, bids are gained at the following levels:

0-19 contestants = FIRST PLACE BID
-
20-34 contestants = FIRST, SECOND & THIRD PLACE BIDS
-
35-50 contestants = FINAL ROUND BIDS
-
51-70 contestants = SEMIFINAL ROUND BIDS
-
71-99 contestants = QUARTERFINAL ROUND BIDS
-
100 + contestants = OCTAFINAL ROUND BIDS
Please note that qualification is based on the total number of contestants in the event NOT. the number of entries.
