Please note that CSUF tournament staff will also be in the Zoom. Our plan is to create multiple break-out rooms. Please only report to the debate tabulation room in the case of last-minute drops, judge changes, connectivity issues, or situations that require tabroom intervention/advice. Otherwise, please check in with CSUF staff regarding general judge questions.
Periodically, we receive complaints that the website did not electronically push or link assigned ballots to judges. Please advise judges to check online pairings to verify that they did not receive a ballot before assuming they have the round off. If unassigned judges can wait in Zoom to verify that all and any pushed ballots are assigned, we would greatly appreciate it!
If we have a separate Zoom link for IEs on Sunday, we will follow-up with this information on Saturday.
Payments
Credit Card via Eventbrite
The Eventbrite sites now live for electronic payments: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/323524840507
Only one coach/representative needs to pay for the school/program’s entries. Each school with have a ticket with their amount. Many changes have occurred yesterday and today. Please check the amount against your Tabroom invoice. If you notice a discrepancy or believe the amount is incorrect, please contact me before paying in order to minimize refunds.
W9 for SCUDL
Some schools have requested a W9; that is available on the Tabroom site (link is on the right side of the main page under “Tournament Pages & Forms”). I will also follow-up to any emails requesting the document this afternoon.
Check Instructions
We prefer credit card payments through Eventbrite. However, if you need to pay by check, please make checks payable to Southern California Urban Debate League or "S.C.U.D.L," which is the specific club account under the entity, Associated Students, Inc.
In the instance, your institution requires a W9, checks can also be made out to "ASI" or "Associated Students Inc.," and sent to the address on the W9 BUT please note that the check is for the specific account, SCUDL, on the check's memo line.) Thank you.

Judging Training Instructions
We encourage judges who are new to judging (or ones that would like a refresher) to view the following video from 2020 tournament’s virtual judge training (the run time is almost 90 minutes). However, there are explanations of every event so you can feel free to watch the events that are most relevant to you.
The video begins with general tab room/judging instructions and then is followed by debate event explanations. Explanations of judging the various Individual Events begins at about 48:40.***(see below for changes to IEs since this video)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKDNDoO7uVA
Additional judge instructions will be made available for download on the Tournament’s main page (links are on the right side under “Tournament Pages & Forms”).
***There are a couple of changes to IEs since this training video:
1. Duo competitors can either compete with separate cameras OR be in the same room competing. Please do not let this affect your preference when judging, as their ability to compete in the same room might be limited due to COVID restrictions and they can't help that :)
2. If a competitor's connection cuts out, there's no 10-minute restriction on reconnecting--the guideline is 45 minutes from the start of the round, or if they can reasonably get their speech in before the round ends. If they still aren't reconnecting, judge the part you did watch of their speech.
As always, don't spend time helping the student reconnect--direct them to this homepage to go to the gmail or one of the zoom rooms for help so you can keep the round going. Do wait just a minute to see if they will pop back in but if they don't, move on to the next student, and once they come back, then let them finish their speech. Your priority is to make sure the round is running on time, and our priority is to make sure they get the help they need :)
