Welcome to the Laker Debate Tournament at Bonneville High School January 19-20, 2024.

Steady your sea-legs with the January/February topics with a guaranteed three rounds of congress, and four rounds of speech and debate.

Debate Events: Public Forum, Big Questions, Policy, Lincoln Douglas, Congress

Speech Events: Original Oratory, Informative, Impromptu, National Extemp, International Extemp, Combined Interps

Topics: Students will be debating the January topics for PF/LD; Congress Legislation will be pulled from UDCA and NSDA; BQ and CX will be using the National topic. Extemp topics will be pulled from NSDA Diversity and Inclusion (NX Only) and NSDA & NFHS January 2024 Practice Questions.

Tournament Schedule:

Friday January 19th:

Registration/Check-in: 2:45-3:00pm

Judge Meeting:3:15pm

Round 1 Speech & Debate: 3:30-5:30pm

Round 2 Speech & Debate: 6:00-8:00pm

Congress Round 1: 4-7pm

Saturday January 20th:

Check-in: 7:15-7:30am

Judge Meeting: 7:45am

Round 3 Speech & Debate: 8:00-10:00am

Round 4 Speech & Debate: 10:30am-12:30pm

Elim Round Speech & Debate: 1:00-3:00pm

Elim Round 2 Speech & Debate: 3:00-5:00Pm

Congress Round 2: 8:00-10:30pm

Congress Round 3: 11:00-1:30pm

Congress Finals: 2:00-4:30pm
