California Async Speech Scrimmage 2

Welcome to the second California Async Speech Scrimmage! We hope to help middle and high school students from any state, including California, get feedback and grow as speakers throughout 2023-24 competition season.
EVENTS:
We offer Dramatic Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Impromptu, Informative, Oratory, Poetry, Program Oral Interpretation, Prose, and Storytelling. Nationals rules apply to all events. Students may enter as many events as they wish.
Each event will have 3 preliminary rounds and 1 final round.
COST:
Entries are free.
JUDGING:
Schools must provide a judge for every 6 entries (or fraction thereof). Judges can be hired for $25 for the whole tournament. Entries without adequate judging will be fined $10 per missing or dropped judge. Please send checks to:

SCHEDULE (Pacific Time):
01/23 (8:00 am): Async speech recordings are due in Tabroom. Add deadline.
01/23 (10:00 am): Preliminary round ballots release.
01/24 (8:00 pm): Preliminary round ballots due.
01/25 (8:00 am): Final round ballots release.
01/26 (8:00 pm): Final round ballots due.
01/28: Results posted and emailed to coaches.

TOC BIDS:
If any events meet the following competitor requirements, we will submit the bids to the TOC.
- Champion (1 Bid) - Minimum 8 Entries / 3 Schools / 3 Prelims and 1 Final
- Top 3 (Up to 3 Bids) - Minimum 16 Entries / 4 Schools / 3 Prelims and 1 Final
- Finals (Up to 6 Bids) - Minimum 30 Entries / 5 Schools / 3 Prelims, Semis, Finals
- Semifinals (Up to 12 Bids) - Minimum 60 Entries / 10 Schools / 4 Prelims, Quarters, Finals
- Quarterfinals (Up to 24 Bids) - Minimum of 120 Entries / 10 Schools / 4 Prelims, Octos, Finals
