Why hold a tournament? As February comes to a close, most novice and JV debaters in the area see their season come to an early end. We aim to provide another opportunity for debaters, no matter the skill level, to continue debating and practicing their skills. Beyond this, the majority of debaters on the Virginia circuits are limited to tournaments with almost exclusively parent judges who have minimal experience -- our judges here will all have substantial experience in debate and will be able to provide valuable insight to aspiring beginners and intermediates.

While anyone is allowed to compete, we ask that experienced Varsity level debaters register as judges while lower level debaters compete. The tournament will clear all 4-2 records or better to elimination rounds, another feature many local debaters never get to see.
