Online Policy Tournament 1

2024 — NSDA Campus, NY/US

Welcome to the Online Policy League (OPL)!

We are looking forward to hosting you at our tournaments this season. OPL is open to EVERYONE and we use the NFHS policy topic for 2024-2025:

Resolved: The United States federal government should significantly strengthen its protection of domestic intellectual property rights in copyrights, patents, and/or trademarks.

For novices: Our OPL tournaments use the NDCA packet. The NDCA packet is accessible at:

Here is the Google Drive link

Here is the Dropbox link

Students may use the packet arguments in whatever order they would like, and mix and match cards from different arguments within the packet. For the first tournament, we ask that students do NOT run Ks or theory. Our novices haven’t learned these arguments, and we know that many novices across the country have not yet either.

For Varsity: We have no argument limits for Varsity. Most of our Varsity participants have completed somewhere between 30 and 60 rounds of policy over their careers.

The schedule for the tournaments is ALWAYS in Eastern Time and is as follows:

Round 1: Pairings at 9:30, Round Start at 10:00

Round 2: Pairings at 12:00, Round Start at 12:30

Round 3: Pairings at 2:30, Round Start at 3:00
