Reindeer Rhetoric Tournament

This is a High School and Middle School Asynchronous tournament taking place in Online.
The Reindeer Rhetoric Tournament, will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024.This tournament will be a Asynchronous/Online tournament.
The tournament offers middle school, high school novice, and high school varsity divisions for most events. This is an open tournament and all schools are welcome to compete.
FEES: $10.00 per entry which covers tournament awards, shipping costs, and tabroom fees. NCFL-Pensacola members will receive 5 free entries.
To celebrate the upcoming Christmas holiday the following special events will be available:
-Christmas Themed Storytelling event.
-Christmas Themed Prepared Prompt UPDATE! Prompt Added

Videos must be uploaded by Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 9:00 pm. They will be released to judges within 48 Hours and ballots are due by December 21, 2024 at midnight. A tournament awards slideshow will be posted on Sunday, December 22, 2024 and medals will be mailed to each respective school.
EVENTS and DIVISIONS: We offer middle school, novice, and varsity divisions. If numbers allow, we will keep divisions separate. We reserve the right to combine divisions or events into the same competition room as needed. If we combine divisions this is for judging and scheduling purposes only. Awards will still be given to each event and division.
"Varsity" is Year 2 of high school speech & debate.
Students may enter up to 4 events. Judge requirements will go by entries.

- Declamation
- Dramatic Performance (HI/DI)
- Duo Interpretation
- Oral Interpretation of Literature
- Original Oratory/Informative Speaking
- Program Oral Interpretation (Non-CFL event)
- Prepared Prompt- this will serve as our limited prep-event. The topic will be released on December 17th at noon.
- Storytelling (Christmas Themed,(special tournament event)
STORYTELLING EVENT: Choose a story that is about or related to the Christmas Holiday for this event.
We are using NSDA rules for Storytelling and speeches should not exceed 5:30 long.
Students in Pro-Con Challenge may Choose 1 of the following resolutions or pieces of legislation to prepare their speeches.
LINCOLN DOUGLAS TOPIC:
Resolved: The United States ought to adopt a wealth tax.
PUBLIC FORUM TOPIC:
Resolved: The United States should substantially reduce its military support of Taiwan.

JUDGES: We will need your judges in order to run the tournament.
The judge ratio for this tournament is 1 judge for every 5 entries. Judges should be prepared to view two to three rounds of video submissions.

It is the affirmative duty of the coach to ensure that all judges are properly trained and aware of their assignments.
COACHES: Coaches must be available via text or email for the duration of the tournament in order to avoid fines for any judging issues that may arise.
