You are cordially invited to the annual Pine Richland Tournament, held at Pine-Richland High School on 700 Warrendale Rd, Gibsonia, PA 15044. Below you will find important information regarding tournament details.

EVENTS: Follow PHSSL rules; double entries are not permitted. At this time there is no registration cap, but one may be imposed if space begins to fill up quickly.

  • JV and Open Lincoln Douglas Debate

    • Resolved: The United States ought to become party to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and/or the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

  • JV and Open Public Forum Debate

    • Resolved: Resolved: The African Union should grant diplomatic recognition to the Republic of Somaliland as an independent state.

  • Parliamentary Debate

JUDGING: Please make sure all judges have required clearances. Some are available for hire.

1 Judge for every 5 speech entries or fraction thereof

1 Judge for every 2 debate entries or fraction thereof

1 Judge for every 6 congress entries or fraction thereof

DAY OF TOURNAMENT:

  • Lunch Tickets will be sold in front of the library.

    • Consists of italian, turkey, or vegetarian hoagie, or garden salad with chips and a drink.

    • Snacks will also be available for purchase in the cafeteria throughout the day.

  • Event Rounds:

    • 4 Speech preliminary rounds followed by a final.

    • LD/PF - broken into JV and Varsity. (both will receive awards)

      • JV will have 5 preliminary rounds - Competitors should be enrolled if they are novices and/or in their first or second year of debate.

      • Varsity will have 4 preliminary rounds followed by a restrictive 5th round.

    • Parliamentary debate will have 4 rounds.

    • Student Congress will offer two sessions, followed by a super session for finalists.

  • **Speech, varsity LD/PF debate, and Congress Super Session can have spectators**
