This is the Tabroom page for Katy ISD Novice Night #5. It will be hosted at Seven Lakes HS on Tuesday, April 15. Any entries outside of Katy ISD will be deleted.
Students may only enter a maximum of 1 debate event OR 2 speech events. Cross entry between Speech and Debate is impossible.

No novice topics will be used.
PF will use the April 2025 topic --Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its investment in domestic nuclear energy.
LD will use the March/April 2025 topic --Resolved: The development of Artificial General Intelligence is immoral.
CX will use the NFHS 2024-25 topic -- Resolved: The United States federal government should significantly strengthen its protection of domestic intellectual property rights in copyrights, patents, and/or trademarks.
WSD:
R1 -- Impromptu
R2 -- This House would remove tax exempt status from religious institutions and organizations.
Congress:
Congressional Debate will be limited to the following bills from the Spring 2025 TFA Docket, and they shall be debated in this order: 20, 14, 15, 9, 7.
If a chamber exhausts all 5 items of legislation, they may take docket nominations from the floor. Individual chambers are welcome to table legislation if they wish to skip it entirely or come back to it later. All bills must have at least 1 speech in affirmation or negation before the previous question may be moved, unless the chamber has hit the hard stop time. Students shall be elected as presiding officers, as with a regular TFA tournament, during the session.

3:30 pm - Extemp Draw - will be held for students arriving late until 4:20 pm.
4:00 pm - Round 1 Start
5:00 pm - Extemp Draw, Debate Round 2 Start
5:30 pm - Speech Round 2 Start, CX Round 2 Start
WSD:
3:30 pm - Round 1 Impromptu Prep
4:30 pm - Round 1 Start
5:30 pm - Round 2 Start (prepared)
Congress:
3:45 pm - Report to chamber
4:00 pm - Elect presiding officer, go over procedures, questions from chamber
4:10 pm - First speech begins
6:30 pm - Minimum debate time
7:10 pm - Hard stop all chambers
