Student Judges

Experienced varsity students are invited and encouraged to judge at our novice tournament. When entering judge names, please consider maturity: student judges must be able to run and adjudicate a round in a professional and fair way. They must also be able to write concise, helpful ballots. The first ballot a novice receives may be from a varsity competitor. Help make sure that ballot is a good one. We recommend the Degree of Excellence (150 NSDA points) as a minimum standard for novice judges. However, coaches know their own students; we will defer to their judgment.

We do ask coaches to label their student judges under the comments section of their registration on tabroom. Example: Student Judge, Sophomore
Student judges are asked to purchase lunch from our competitor concessions and to stay in the media center when they are not judging.
