About Big Questions

At this tournament we will be following standard Big Questions Debate Procedures.

The topic for the tournament is: 

Resolved: Humans are primarily driven by self-interest.

The structure for the debate is as follows:

Affirmative Constructive–5 minutes

Negative Constructive-5 minutes

Question Segment – 3 minutes

Affirmative Rebuttal – 4 minutes

Negative Rebuttal – 4 minutes

Question Segment – 3 minutes

Affirmative Consolidation – 3 minutes

Negative Consolidation – 3 minutes

Affirmative Rationale – 3 minutes

Negative Rationale – 3 minutes

As per Big Questions rules, each side will be granted 3 minutes of prep time that may be used any time except in the middle of a speech.
